Nutrition Discussion and Healthy Cooking Demo

February 15, 2022 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Food Network envy got you down? Want to start preparing healthier items at home? We’ve got you covered!

Alumni are invited to take part in a nutrition discussion and healthy cooking demo presented by Emmanuel Alum Olivia Weinstein ’13, MS, RD, LDN, and her cousin Emma Barbary ‘24. Olivia and Emma will be sharing some favorite family recipes and preparing healthy snacks during the demo. Registrants will receive a list of ingredients ahead of time so they can cook along if they’d like!

Olivia Weinstein ‘13, MS, RD, LDN, is the Culinary Nutrition Director in the Teaching Kitchen at Boston Medical Center (BMC), Boston, MA where she teaches patients how to apply nutrition recommendations to real food and how to better utilize the food they receive from the BMC food pantry. Through her work in the award-winning BMC Teaching Kitchen, which earned the Future Practice’s award for “Innovations in Dietetics Practice” at FNCE 2016, Olivia is helping to bring to fruition BMCs mission of “exceptional care, without exception.” Olivia is also the co-founder of the Pursuit App, a culinary nutrition mobile application that makes healthy home cooking easy and accessible. This technology scales the work she does in the Teaching Kitchen to reach communities outside the hospital. Olivia completed her MS and dietetic internship at Framingham State University in 2018.

Emma Barbary ’24 is from Brooklyn, New York, and spent a lot of time in the Massachusetts Berkshires growing up. She loves Boston and has been enjoying her experience at Emmanuel. Emma is a sociology major with a concentration in health services. She has always had an interest working in the mental health and social work fields. She is thrilled to be able to teach some new recipes alongside her cousin Olivia Weinstein ’13, MS, RD, LDN.
