Emmanuel College Alumni Relations is proud to present the Alumni Spotlight Series. This multipart series (formerly Emmanuel Together Spotlight Series) features alumni who are using their talents to make a difference.

Please join us for a virtual lunchtime talk with alumna Daniela Gomes Rodrigues ’22 on the topic “Finding the B in DEIB: Learning to Intentionally Build Community." Daniela will discuss how finding a sense of belonging at Emmanuel College fueled her interest in creating spaces where folks feel like they belong.


About Daniela Gomes Rodrigues '22

Daniela Emilia (she/her) is a Class of 2022 graduate of Emmanuel College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a concentration in Social Inequality and Social Justice and minors in Education and History. Along with her mother and younger brother, Daniela moved to the United States when she was eight years old and grew up in Brockton, MA. During her time at Emmanuel, Daniela served in many leadership roles including Resident Assistant, President of the Black Student Union and the EC Programming Team, and Shift Manager in the Jean Yawkey Center.

Daniela also participated in additional extracurricular activities including Alternative Spring Break, the Social Justice Trip with Emmanuel’s Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and working as a research assistant in the Lifespan Lab for Dr. Clare Mehta, Associate Professor of Psychology. She now works as the Volunteer Program Manager at 826 Boston, a writing, tutoring, and publishing non-profit based in Boston which transforms Boston Public School students into published authors, builds their arsenal of literacy skills, and boosts their confidence with creative writing projects. As the Volunteer Program Manager, Daniela is responsible for leading the team that recruits, retains, and builds up the volunteer cohort that supports 826 programming. Daniela also serves as the co-chair for the Team DEI committee at 826 Boston.

Presently living in Roxbury, Daniela is currently applying for education leadership graduate programs with the goal of continuing to serve as a leader in the educational ecosystem who enforces equitable policies and empathetic learning practices.

Participation in this event is free, but a $15 donation is encouraged to the Emmanuel Fund. Zoom link to be provided to registrants upon registration.
