Emmanuel College provides innovative learning opportunities on campus, throughout Boston and around the world. These experiences are preparing students to excel in the 21st-century workplace and make important contributions in a host of fields.
As we continually enhance our programs in the competitive higher education environment, the College remains committed to the affordability of an Emmanuel education. We will award approximately $28 million in student financial aid during the 2015-2016 academic year. Despite this significant investment, many of our students still find the cost of tuition, fees and room and board out of their reach.
Closing the financial gap for our students is a College priority, and we rely on the generous philanthropic support of our alumni and friends to help. We know an Emmanuel education is an investment for our students and their families, and scholarships are integral in making it all possible. Emmanuel has two primary scholarship opportunities for donors: the Saints Scholarship Fund and endowed scholarships. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations can also customize other gift opportunities for scholarships upon request.
Saints Scholarship Fund
Established in 2016, the Saints Scholarship Fund is known as a current-use scholarship through which the impact of your gift is felt immediately by current Emmanuel students. With a minimum donation of $5,000, donors enable students who are in need of additional financial assistance to enroll or remain enrolled at Emmanuel. Scholarship amounts may range from $1,000 to $10,000 depending on the need of the student, with typical awards of $2,500 and $5,000.
"AS AN ALUMNA WHO RECEIVED FINANCIAL AID, IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO BE A PART OF THE CONTINUING MISSION OF EMMANUEL COLLEGE IN OFFERING QUALITY FATH-BASED EDUCATION TO ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING THOSE WHOSE ECONOMIC RESOURCES ARE LIMITED." - ELLEN HETHERINGTON O'BRIEN '66
Donors can commit to the Saints Scholarship Fund for one year or choose to renew annually. Donors may choose to make a larger commitment through the creation of an endowed scholarship fund to ensure that their impact is perpetuated indefinitely.
Endowed scholarships awarded on the basis of financial need or academic achievement provide the greatest benefit to the College and our students. These scholarships help students bridge the gap between what the College is able to award in financial aid and what the family is able to contribute toward the cost of education.
DURING THE 2014-2015 ACADEMIC YEAR, 272 STUDENTS RECEIVED OVER $1 MILLION IN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS, THANKS TO THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF DONORS.
Donors of endowed scholarship funds play a special role, establishing an enduring source of financial aid funding for Emmanuel and a lasting bond that connects donors and their families to future generations of students and their families.
Creating an endowed scholarship fund gives each donor an opportunity to put his or her name or the name of another person or organization on the fund in memory or tribute. A minimum amount of $50,000 is required to establish the fund, but donors often give more. Each endowed scholarship fund is a source of permanent financial support.
