You are cordially invited to attend the 2018 Dorothy Day Lecture:
Building Opportunity and Hope for Afghan Girls

Featured speaker Razia Jan’s story showcases how one woman’s activism is bringing life-affirming opportunity to girls and young women in her native Afghanistan. An immigrant who built her own business in Duxbury, Razia Jan has dedicated herself to transforming her faith in education as a path out of oppression into concrete reality. Razia’s determination and tireless efforts to rally support for her dream resulted in the Zabuli Education Center, a free all-girls K-12 school in rural Afghanistan, now celebrating its 10th anniversary. The new Razia Jan Institute for midwifery is opening up employment for women and bringing medical services to desperately underserved areas. Razia’s commitment to education as a key to positive, peaceful change for future generations has been captured in the documentary What Tomorrow Brings, and honored by awards including CNN Top 10 Hero, Global Woman of Action, Social Entrepreneur Award and numerous others.
