Danticat Speaks on Immigration, Family and Art at “Through the Wire” Lecture
On Thursday, February 13, Emmanuel College’s Center for Diversity & Inclusion welcomed award-winning novelist Edwidge Danticat to campus for the “Through the Wire” Lecture. The event, cosponsored by the Black Student Union, the Student Government Association and the President’s Commission for Diversity & Inclusion, served as a cornerstone to the Center’s Black History Month celebrations.

Emmanuel Students Receive Honorable Mention in 2020 Kingston-Mann Awards
Students Colleen McAnaney ’20 and Jessica Gavin ’20 both received honorable mention in this year’s Kingston-Mann Student Achievement Awards for Excellence in Diversity/Inclusion Scholarship for their respective essays in an announcement released on January 18th.

Red Sox General Manager Visits Emmanuel
The Emmanuel College School of Business & Management hosted the General Manager of the Boston Red Sox, Brian O’Halloran, as a part of their Business Unplugged speaker series on February 6th in the Janet M. Library Lecture Hall.

Marian Ryan '76

Alumna Spotlight

When Marian Ryan '76 was a student at Emmanuel in the 1970s, she did not foresee that she would become a veteran prosecutor, let alone serve in her current role as District Attorney of Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Still, the Political Science and English double-major gained an appreciation for the impact of the public servant and of being in “a position where you can set policy and really affect people’s lives every day,” she says. Today Ryan works to ensure the protection of 1.7 million people in 54 cities and towns in the Commonwealth.
